My artworks evoke rich visual symbolism in art history and reflect ranges of influences, experiences, exposure of my origins and later world tours. Wonders of traditional methods in the literature of antiquity, natural imagery was often used as a metaphor for virtue, vice and as an aesthetic tool for interpreting religious beliefs.
In my current paintings, I am layering paint washes over glowing metallic finishes: copper, gold, and silver, in abstracted nature elements. Metal leaf is imbued with both personal symbolic meaning and associated with notions of divinity, referring back to spiritual enlightenment, and the meditative, self-healing qualities of this shimmering leaf represent the emotion that I experience as an artist making this work.
